“Score the World’s Best Job” by Matt McCue, Men’s Health October 2015

Here are just a few tips from this article found in Men’s Health. Life is about progress. That doesn’t mean re-inventing oneself but at least setting goals and hatching a plan to reach those goals. Thinking about the future should not interfere with living in the present.

  1. Every person you meet is asking three questions about you:
    Do you care about me?
    Can you help me?
    And can I trust you?
If you earn passing grades from the people you meet, you’ll make lasting connections that can dramatically increase your potential for success.
  2. Think like a boss: All managers have huge challenges. So figure out how to solve their pain. People need guys who will work hard and push the rest of the team. What need can you solve?
  3. Pursue what drives you: To create a truly rewarding career, spend as much time as you can in your “zone of genius.” This is the area in which you excel and can accomplish great things without great effort in a relatively short period of time.
  4. Give your career and honest evaluation: We think that since we’ve done something for 15 years, we have to keep doing it. That’s a mistake. Find a way to merge your current skill set with a pursuit you truly love. It’s never too late to pursue what you love.
